Global competitiveness in the textile industry is no longer driven solely by production capacity or manufacturing efficiency. Increasingly, international buyers evaluate products based on traceability, certification, authenticity, and consistent quality.
During Bharat Tex 2026, I had the opportunity to interact with Dr. Mohammed Abdel Wahab, Technical Manager, together with representatives of the Egyptian Cotton Association, to gain insights into how one of the world’s most recognised premium cotton brands protects its global reputation.
While the conversation itself was brief, it highlighted an important principle relevant to manufacturers, exporters, investors, and policymakers alike: strong brands are supported by strong governance and quality assurance systems.
The Egyptian Cotton Association plays a key role in protecting the authenticity of Egyptian Cotton through certification, quality verification, and international brand protection initiatives. These efforts help maintain buyer confidence and preserve the value associated with one of the textile industry’s most respected names.
India is among the world’s largest producers and exporters of textiles and apparel. As the country expands its global manufacturing footprint, long-term competitiveness will increasingly depend on more than production scale.
